The Asbestos Aware Contractors Scheme (AACS) is a training, education and information initiative designed to help non-licensed contractors and tradesmen work safely and within the law. AACS is accredited by UKATA (Uniked Kingdom Asbestos Training Association) and is regarded as one of the leading training schemes currently available.

Following a recent change in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, there is now an explicit asbestos awareness training requirement placed upon employees engaged in refurbishment, demolition, general building or maintenance work, where there is risk of disturbing asbestos during the course of their work.

Learning respect for the substance itself, knowing how to find out if it is present on site, knowing where it is located, knowing how to avoid it, knowing what to do if you should accidentally disturb it, being reliable rather than a liability, this is the primary aim of the AACS.

The scheme has been devised by
Aspect Contracts, one of the UK's leading asbestos management companies. It has already successfully trained thousands of operatives over the past three years, so securing a higher level of on-site safety for all.

New group courses for 2008

AACS courses are usually held for 20-25 delegates, which is fine for those organisations with large workforces. But what if you can’t spare 10 men for a half day? Or if you only employ a few people? That’s where the new AACS group course comes in – same content, same length, same quality, but they will run on a given day at Aspect HQ with a maximum of 15 places available. It’s £50 per head with a minimum charge of £150 for up to 3 delegates; for groups of five or more its £40 per head. Bookings can comprise employees of different companies eg contractor and sub-contractor, sister companies. To book your place, all you need to do is contact Paula Barr on 01268 534477.

The group courses will run on the last Thursday of every month, starting from January 2008.

Each course will commence at 9.30am and finish at 13.00pm with a break for refreshments.

Your training has certainly been extremely beneficial to our teams, and as a result we will be providing a better service to both our clients and contractors.'

InFront Solutions

'I found the content of the session was judged excellently for those attending and particularly liked the switching from slideshow to interactive presentation and question session and thought this approach worked well in stimulating and encouraging thought and response on the subject.'
